The ISM Navigation Auditor course looks at the skills, traits and understanding necessary to audit Navigation against ISM and OCIMF’s MSA.It also looks at best practice of modern navigation, how to gather evidence of compliance, and the process of conducting audits, surveys and inspections. We cross certify to the IMO 1.30 Onboard Assessment traininng and the Level 3 Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment

Description

The approved ISM Navigation Auditor course provides a comprehensive understanding of the skills, traits, and expertise required to effectively audit navigation practices in accordance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and the OCIMF’s Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA / OVMSA) guidelines. The course delves into modern navigation best practices, highlighting the principles and techniques essential for evaluating a vessel’s adherence to established safety and operational standards.

Participants will learn how to systematically gather evidence of compliance through practical methods such as document reviews, direct observations, and crew interviews. The course also covers the intricacies of conducting professional audits, surveys, and inspections, equipping participants with the knowledge to assess operational performance, identify non-conformities, and provide actionable feedback to improve safety and efficiency in maritime navigation.

The training emphasises the importance of a thorough understanding of the regulatory framework, critical thinking, and effective communication, enabling auditors to approach each inspection with confidence and precision.

This course is for personnel who will or may be conducting internal or external navigation audits – from Chief Officers and Masters to superintendents.

  • An Approved IMO Model Course 1.30 Onboard Assessment Certificate

There is the option to add the Level 3 Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment if required.
