• Explain the roles and responsibilities of a teacher or trainer.

• Summarise key legislation and codes of practice relevant to the teaching role.

• Promote equality, value diversity, and meet individual learner needs.

• Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

• Understand professional relationships in education and appropriate points of referral.

2. Planning to Meet the Needs of Learners

• Conduct initial and diagnostic assessments to agree learning goals.

• Plan inclusive teaching in line with curriculum and learner needs.

• Develop schemes of work and lesson plans tailored to individual learners.

• Integrate feedback and adapt plans accordingly.

• Embed minimum core skills (English, maths, ICT) into planning.

3. Delivering Education and Training

• Use inclusive teaching and learning approaches.

• Communicate effectively with learners and other professionals.
